The first community day senior high school has been commissioned by President John Mahama at Otuam in the Ekumfi District in the Central Region.
It is the first of the 200 community day senior high school promised by the president to help absorb the large numbers of qualified candidates from the junior high schools.
The official commissioning of the school is also geared towards the commencement of the progressively free senior high school education as promised by the govement.
To this end, a cheque of over 12 million Ghana Cedis has been made available to the Education Ministry towards the implementation of the programme.
The new school is a four 4-storey block with 24 standard classrooms, four laboratories, two libraries, 16 offices for heads of departments, assembly hall and other ancillary facilities.
Meanwhile, similar projects are ongoing at various parts of the country.
