Deputy Regional Minister



Deputy Regional Minister - Queenstar SawyerMrs. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr is the Member of Parliament for Agona East and Deputy Regional Minister for the Central Region.

She was born in Cape Coast and had her education at Elta International School, Accra Girls Secondary School. She graduated from Accra Polytechnic with a Diploma in Institutional Management. (Specialised in Nutrition). 

Mrs. Sawyerr is a serial entrepreneur having started several businesses including a Bar, Restaurant, Club House and a Party Rentals Company. Prior to entering politics, she was running her own property development and property rental business. She is married with four children.

Even before entering politics ‘Maame Pokuah’ completed a number of development projects in the constituency such as lobbying for roads and personally building a number of markets. As Member of Parliament she has undertaken quite a number of initiatives. There include the Maame Pokuah Fees Programme (MPFP) where she pays the fees for over 257 Secondary School Students, lobbying for facilities such as dormitories and dining halls for schools in the constituency, lobbying for MASLOC loans to assist constituents with their businesses.

She has successfully lobbied for a community secondary school for Namanwura, a polyclinic for Duakwa and has successfully brought electricity to over 20 communities. Many more development projects are underway.

Her vision for the constituency is to give the people a dignified life. This means first giving them access to the basic necessities of life and thereafter empowering them with education, skills and businesses to enable them create their own prosperity.

That is why she feeds all BECE Candidates when they are writing their exams with a complete meal each day for all seven (7) days any year.
