The Education sector remains a priority sector for investment by Central Government and the Metropolitan/Municipal/District Assemblies in the Region. The Region has 3,561 Public and Basic Schools, 53 Second Cycle Institutions, 3 Colleges of Education and 2 public Universities. The breakdown of the Educational Institutions is indicated below:

Projects

Government is investing massively in infrastructure in several schools (basic and tertiary) to make the teaching and learning environment very conducive. The projects include Classroom Blocks, Dormitories, Teacher Accommodation, Science Laboratories, Assembly Halls and Lecture Halls among others.

Free School Uniforms and Exercise Books

The Central Region took delivery of 34,000 sets of pre-cut school uniforms, 125,900 sets of sewn school uniforms and 3,845,062 pieces of exercise books for distribution to schools in the Region. This is in fulfillment of Government’s promise to provide these items to pupils of deprived schools. The breakdown of the Regional allocation to the seventeen (17) Metropolitan/Municipal/District Assemblies in the Region is indicated below.
